FAQ

Frequently Avoided Questions.

The honest answers — about cost, faith, grades, and what it really takes.

Cost

What you would owe, and when.

Is it really free?

That’s the goal, but it isn’t a guarantee. Whether tuition ends up covered depends on how the model performs, and you may owe a balance — tuition, fees, and room & board (see Financials). If you leave early, you may owe more.

Can I use my own VR headset?

Possibly — it’s evaluated at the start. It would lower your expense balance but not the required deposit.

Timing

Deadlines, enrollment, later starts.

What’s the application deadline?

There isn’t one yet. TCS is in development and applying for state approval to operate, so we’re not accepting applications. Join the interest list and we’ll notify you if and when applications open.

When do I enroll?

Not yet. TCS is not approved to operate and is not enrolling students or collecting any money right now. Under a proposed future model (not in effect), admitted students would confirm about a week after acceptance, and a planned $1,000 deposit would cover a keep-it VR headset — returned at the end or applied to any balance if you leave early. None of this takes effect unless and until TCS is approved to operate.

I can’t start in December — can I join later?

Yes — a year from December is the currently planned next cohort. But we are working to develop additional entry points in between. Nothing promised or guaranteed, though.

Faith & culture

Who this is for and what it asks of you.

I’m not a Christian — can I apply?

Yes, with three caveats: (1) you won’t get the full experience (Bible studies and devotionals are open to you but may run counter to your beliefs); (2) Christians have a mission — expect interesting discussions; (3) the model needs a shared value system because of its total transparency and the forgiveness and trust it demands. A future application would ask you to show you share these values and will practice them daily.

How important is faith — I’ve been a “CEO” (Christmas-Easter-Only) Christian?

Very important; the environment requires community, trust, and a lot of forgiveness. Your past matters less than whether you share the gifts of trust and forgiveness and embrace stewardship and service. Tell us your story, be honest, and once the program is approved to enroll we’ll talk about how to proceed.

What if my peers don’t pull their weight — are people removed?

They might be. Grounds include lying on an application, free-riding, no-shows, and conflicts of interest or commitment. We follow biblical procedures — usually a second and third chance — but repeated failure can’t jeopardize the whole program.

Academics

Grades, tests, standards.

How are grades determined?

No grades — pass/fail, high standards, no curve. “If you want all As, go to Harvard.”

Can I retake a failed test?

As often as you like, up to twice per quarter; you graduate only after passing all classes. We teach you to be a self-learner — you may just need to study harder.

When life happens

Pausing, leaving, coming back.

Family emergency — can I pause and finish later?

We work with you individually; as long as you complete the program, you’re treated the same financially as everyone else.

I left for a job that didn’t work out — can I re-enter?

The program is tightly interwoven, so re-entry isn’t guaranteed. Once TCS is approved and running, we’d note your interest and reach out if a suitable opening came up.
